Sincona sale 19, lot 1041

This specimen was lot 1041 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 6,000 (about US$7,519 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Kopeck 1924. Brilliant uncirculated." In 1921, having defeated all its internal enemies, the Bolshevik regime resumed the issue of silver coinage of ten kopeks up to a ruble. In 1924, this bronze kopek was added, along with a two, three and five kopeks.

Recorded mintage: 34,705,000.

Specification: bronze, issued with reeded edge (common) and plain edge (scarce), this specimen 3.28 g.
