This specimen was lot 25412 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander III Proof 2 Kopecks 1890 СПБ, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle in circle / Value in circle with date above, Proof 65 Red and Brown NGC. Mostly golden-red color with a sharp strike." This type is listed for 1867-1914. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs.
