This specimen was lot 72740 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 3 Kopeks, 1881-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-63 Brown. A choice, deeply brown specimen, this example yields tremendous luster and an alluring tone of electrified cobalt scattered throughout." This type was issued 1867-1914 in large quantities and is common.

Recorded mintage: 6,141,000.

Specification: 8 g, copper, 28 mm diameter per the SCWC; 9.83 g, 28.36 mm diameter per Numista.
