This specimen was lot 72734 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/2 Rouble (Poltina), 1867-CNB HI. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. NGC MS-62. From a relatively low mintage featuring rich old cabinet tone displaying a multitude of iridescent hues. Well struck with good definition of the fine details and signs of handling consistent for the grade. A pleasant and wholesome example of the type with a good look." Altho struck in much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck 1859-85 has a lower catalog value. In 1886 the poltina was superseded by a fifty kopek piece weighing 10 g, 0.900 fine.
