This specimen was lot 25585 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $3,818.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander II copper 5 Kopecks 1867 СПБ, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle in circle / Value in circle with date above, MS66 Brown NGC. Superbly struck with near-flawless, iridescent, surfaces and traces of original mint-red color around the devices. By far, the finest example certified of this rare issue by either NGC, or PCGS." The SCWC does not list this type, only the common one for Nicholas II (Y12.2). One hundred kopeks make a ruble.
Recorded mintage: 821,000 for 1867-68 (type of Nicholas II).
