This specimen was lot 25833 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I Warsaw Mint Rouble 1847 MW, MS63 NGC. Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle in circle. Rev. Crowned date and value in wreath. Full mint luster, with nice definition and light golden toning. Rare in Mint State and none have been certified finer by NGC or PCGS." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The preceding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a "wings down" eagle.

Recorded mintage: 987,000.
