Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 32297

This specimen was lot 32297 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Poltina (1/2 Ruble), 1846-MW. Warsaw Mint. Nicholas I. NGC MS-63. Exceeded in the NGC census by just three others, this provocative specimen provides an appealing tone that transforms from gunmetal gray to burnished amber nearer the edges." This type is listed for 1832-58 and was emitted in substantial quantities at St. Petersburg and Warsaw.

Recorded mintage: 783,000.
