This specimen was lot 72392 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Poltina (1/2 Ruble), 1848-CNB HI. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. Although cleaned, this example provides a cool steely gray appearance and most and even wear on the surfaces. A presentable example of a less commonly encountered type." This type is listed for 1832-58 and was emitted in substantial quantities at St. Petersburg and Warsaw. This date is common.
