Russia 1833-SP NG 25 kopeks
The first specimen was lot 179 in Sincona sale 65 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$8,557 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"25 Kopecks 1833, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Nice patina. NGC MS65PL. (25 копеек 1833, СПб МД, СПБ НГ. 5,18 г. Биткин 273. Красивая патина. В слабе NGC MS65PL.) Ex Superior galleries, May 2001, lot 2780. (С Superior galleries, май 2001, лот 2780.)"
This type is listed for 1832-58 and has a low catalog value in circulated condition. A few are known from the Warsaw mint (KM C166.2). The second specimen was lot 58241 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[2] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1833-CNB HT. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details."
Recorded mintage: 260,000, a fairly common date.
