Russia 1804-SP FG poltina
This specimen was lot 30583 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $5,405. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1804 СПБ-ФГ MS61 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value. Rev. Crowned four-line inscription in wreath. Fully lustrous and well struck, with minor flan flaws. The most available issue of this rare type, but Rare in Mint State." The SCWC records this product of the St. Petersburg mint (СПБ) for 1802-05, with mintmaster FG (ФГ) for 1803-11. The type is much scarcer than later half rubles of Alexander I (1811-26) and the contemporary rubles (Dav-279).
