This specimen was lot 71453 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopeks, 1804 EM. PCGS MS-64 BN Secure Holder. Large crown variety. Bold strike, pleasing dark patina, a near-pristine example of the type." This type was struck 1802-10 at Ekaterinburg (shown here) and also the Suzun mint (mintmark KM). The production of silver five kopeks, suspended during this period, resumed in 1810.
