This specimen was lot 351 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$899 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Catherine II. 1762-1796, 2 Kopecks 1794, Anninskoye Mint. 3.5 roubles according to Petrov. 8 roubles according to Ilyin. Good very fine." This type was struck throughout the reign of Catherine the Great, who used large mintages of copper to sustain government expenses. Several mints contributed and the Anninskoye Mint participated 1789-96.
