From Stack's Bowers 2017 NYINC sale, lot 7158

This specimen was lot 7158 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/4 Ruble (Polupoltinnik), 1794-CNB AK. Catherine II (the Great) (1762-96). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Attractive dark toning." This type was struck for Catherine the Great 1783-96 in moderate numbers and is somewhat available today. The polupoltinnik ended in 1810, superseded by the twenty-five kopeks in 1827 (KM C159).

Recorded mintage: 1,016,000.

Specification: 5.97 g, 0.750 fine silver.
