Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1032

This specimen was lot 1032 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA: EMPIRE: Catherine II, the Great, 1762-1796, AE 2 kopeks, Anninsky, 1790 AM, environmental damage, PCGS graded AU details, ex Dr. Robert A. Rosenfeld Collection." This type was struck in moderate quantities 1763-96 at Ekaterinburg, (C58.3), Krasny Mint, Moscow (C58.5), St. Petersburg (C58.6), Sestroretsk Mint (C58.1) and the Tauric Mint, Feodosiya (C58.4). The Anninsky mint participated 1789-96 and its products are scarce, especially compared to the vast numbers of five and ten kopeks produced at the same time.
