This specimen was lot 7150 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Siberia. 2 Kopek, 1776-KM. Catherine II (The Great) (1762-96). NGC MS-63 BN. Well preserved for the issue, with pleasing chocolatey glossy brown surfaces and excellent strike details." This type was struck 1764-80 for circulation in Siberia and is today common. Russia has the distinction of being the first country to issue decimal currency, as 100 kopeks = one ruble.
