This specimen was lot 2077 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "5 Kopecks 1791 AM. Authenticated and graded by NGC AU 64 BN (# 3500252-004). Sharply struck. Choice uncirculated." This type was struck 1763-96 in the Ekaterinburg mint for circulation in Russia during the reign of Catherine the Great. Hundreds of millions were issued between the Annensk, Moscow, Sestroretsk, Kolyvan, Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg mints. Many survive today but few in choice condition. This type was struck at this mint 1789-96.
