Sincona sale 19, lot 318

This specimen was lot 318 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,400 (about US$1,755 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Polushka 1790, Suzun Mint, KM. Rare. 4 roubles acc. to Iljin. 2.5 roubles according to Petrov. 4 roubles according to Trapeznikov. Extremely fine." The polushka or quarter kopek was the smallest denomination and was produced in large numbers, tho the Suzun mint issues are scarce.
