This specimen was lot 22514 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peter I silver Grivennik (10 Kopecks) 1704, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle / Inscription and date, VF. Slightly uneven flan, and strike, with no major flaws, A very scarce issue." Altho Russia was nominally on a decimal system, this coin being a tenth of a ruble or ten kopeks, we may be sure that the peasants who used this coin called it a grivennik.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.8 g, .802 fine silver, .072 troy oz ASW.
