Regensburg 1642 thaler Dav-5758
This specimen was lot 3111 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND III. Reichstaler 1642 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1641 geändert), mit Titel Ferdinands III. Münzmeister Hans Siegmund Federer. Von größter Seltenheit. Feine Patina, sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, thaler of 1642, 1642/1 overdate, in the name of Ferdinand III. Extremely rare, fine patina, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1641-42 only. The city of Regensburg issued a considerable variety of thalers after 1623 but all are rare.
