Regensburg 1642 2 ducats Fr-2467
This specimen was lot 20613 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $13,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Regensburg. Freie Reichsstadt. 2 Ducats, 1642. NGC MS-63. Reformation Centennial. Civil and military arms from clouds hold a candle over Bible and Augsburg Confession, 15 October, 'V.D.M.I.E.' (Verbum Dei Manet in Aeternam [The Word of God Endures in Eternity above]); Reverse: Arms over 5-line inscription hails 100 years of revealing light, 'Senate and People of Regensburg'. Stunningly preserved with premium prooflike fields and surfaces that have acquired minimal handling over its 375+ years existence. VERY RARE in this denomination as well, this being only the second example we have seen." A rare one year type accompanied by a single ducat (Fr-2469).
