Regensburg 1574 30 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3056 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,493 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS MAXIMILIAN II., 1564-1576. ½ Guldentaler (30 Kreuzer) 1574, mit Titel Maximilians II. Thomas Obermeier. Von größter Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, Henkelspur, sehr schön. (city of Regensburg, half guldenthaler or thirty kreuzer of 1574, struck in the name of Maximilian II. Extremely rare, handsome patina, mount mark, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1574-75 and represents the guldenthaler slipping from one thaler to 5/6 thaler. This example realized nearly three times the catalog value.
