Regensburg 1578 60 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3063 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$7,873 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS RUDOLF II., 1576-1612. Guldentaler (60 Kreuzer) 1578 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1577 geändert), mit Titel Rudolfs II. Münzmeister Jakob Fischer. Von großer Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Julius Jenke, Auktion Beckenbauer 1, München 1961, Nr. 103. (city of Regensburg, guldenthaler or sixty kreuzer of 1578, 1578/7 overdate, in the name of Rudolf II. Extremely rare, attractive example with fine patina, about extremely fine.)"
This gulden was struck 1577-82, 1586, 1589-95 and 1598 and is very scarce. This example realized three times the catalog value.
