Regensburg 1574 60 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3055 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €5,000 (about US$6,561 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS MAXIMILIAN II., 1564-1576. Guldentaler (60 Kreuzer) 1574, mit Titel Maximilians II. Münzmeister Thomas Obermeier. Von großer Seltenheit. Feine Patina, sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg Dr. Karl Walter Bach, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 238, Osnabrück 2013, Nr. 4542 und der Auktion Bankhaus Partin 17, München 1983, Nr. 855. (city of Regensburg, guldenthaler of sixty kreuzer of 1572, struck in the name of Maximilian II. Extremely rare, fine patina, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1572, 1574 and 1576 and represents the guldenthaler slipping from one thaler to 5/6 thaler. This example realized over 3½ times the catalog value.
