Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74571

This specimen was lot 74571 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Mark, 1900-A. Berlin Mint. Wilhelm II. PCGS PROOF-64. A gorgeous Proof, not often seen, with reflective fields and frosty raised devices. Its surfaces are saturated with dark toning colors, including dark gray, cyan, and plum. From the Richard Margolis Collection." This type was struck 1891-1912 and is common tho not so common as the commemorative KM-532.

Recorded mintage: 2,581,537, a fairly common date.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
