Prussia 1827-A 1/2 groschen
This specimen was lot 4069 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €110 (about US$153 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. 1/2 Silbergroschen 1827, A. Herrliche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. Erworben 1969. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, half silver groschen of 1827. Superb patina, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1821-40 as part of the reform of 1821 which eliminated all the provincial coinage. From 1821 until unification in 1871, one thaler = 30 groschen and one groschen = 12 pfennig.
