Künker sale 264, lot 3632

This specimen was lot 3632 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Friedrichs d'or 1825, A. GOLD. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, frederick d'or of 1825. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Berlin 1825-40 and is the last friedrichs d'or of this ruler. These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn, tho this type is slightly more available than the earlier Fr-2422.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.903 fine gold, .194 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.65 g.
