The first specimen was lot 398 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €120 (about US$162 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. 1/6 Taler 1825, A. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, one-sixth thaler of 1825, about uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 668 in UBS sale 83 (Zürich, September 2009) where it sold for CHF 120 (about US$138 including buyer's fee). The catalog description noted, "Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. 1/6 Taler 1825. Vorzüglich-FDC," (Frederick William III, 1797-1840, one-sixth thaler of 18255, extremely fine-uncirculated)." This type was struck 1822-40 at Berlin (A) and Düsseldorf (D) and is common, tho this date is priced about double that of 1822-A or 1823-A. The one-sixth thaler was one of many minor denominations struck alongside the better known thalers and gold coins as part of the reform of 1821. Its face value was equal to four mariengroschen. It was issued steadily 1809-68, when the unification of 1871 rendered it obsolete.

Specification: 5.345 g, .521 fine silver.
