Künker sale 353, lot 4052

This specimen was lot 4052 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,784 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Friedrichs d'or 1828, A. Kopf r. GOLD. Kl. Kratzer im Feld der Rückseite, vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, frederick d'or of 1828, head right. Scratches in the reverse field, extremely fine.)"

This friedrichs d'or was accompanied by a half friedrichs d'or (Fr-2430) and a double friedrichs d'or (Fr-2428) of 1825-40 but none are common. It was worth five thalers.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common for the type.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.903 fine gold, this specimen 6,66 g.
