This specimen was lot 3757 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €220 (about US$288 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Taler 1828, A. Ausbeute. Vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, mining thaler of 1828. Extremely fine.)"
These thalers were struck in limited numbers to promote the product of local silver mines. Many German states issued them.
