Künker sale 294, lot 3544

This specimen was lot 3544 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$2,022 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm II. 1786-1797. Friedrichs d'or 1795, A, Berlin. GOLD. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William II, 1786-97, frederick d'or of 1795, Berlin mint. Very fine.)"

This type was struck in Berlin and Breslau 1786-97 and is the only friedrichs d'or of this ruler. These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn.
