Künker sale 353, lot 3888

This specimen was lot 3888 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm II. 1786-1797. Friedrichs d'or 1794, A, Berlin. GOLD. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. 343, Frankfurt/Main 1995, Nr. 1853. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William II, 1786-97, frederick d'or of 1794, Berlin mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Berlin and Breslau 1786-97 and is the only friedrichs d'or of this ruler. These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn.
