Prussia 1792-A thaler Dav-2599
This specimen was lot 1394 in Jean Elsen sale 151 (Brussels, June 2022), where it sold for €380 (about US$475 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PRUSSE, Friedrich Wilhelm II (1786-1797), AR Taler, 1792A. Très Beau à Superbe. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick WIlliam II, 1786-97, silver thaler of 1792. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck at Berlin (shown here), Breslau and Königsberg 1791-97. These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn. As they were only 0.750 fine, they were spent and the issues of other principalities hoarded.
