Prussia 1733-EGN 1/48 thaler
This specimen was lot 3294 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €65 (about US$91 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. 1/48 Taler 1733, EGN, Berlin. Münzmeister Ernst Georg Neubauer. Vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, 1/48 thaler of 1733, Berlin. Extremely fine.)"
If the reported mintage in the SCWC is correct, this must be one of the most common Prussian coins of the reign.
Recorded mintage: 24,000,000 for 1731-34.
Specification: 1.43 g, 0.219 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, this specimen 1.23 g.
