Sincona sale 50, lot 1041

This specimen was lot 1041 in Sincona sale 50 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Brandenburg-Preussen, seit 1701 Königreich. Friedrich Wilhelm I. 1713-1740. 1/4 Dukat 1715 HFH, Magdeburg. Selten. Winziger Randfehler. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, 1713-40, quarter ducat of 1715, Magdeburg mint. Rare, Minor edge nick, About extremely fine.)"

The SCWC notes two quarter ducats for 1715: KM 131, bare bust obverse, and KM 132, armored bust obverse. They are priced the same for 1715. The black eagle reverse (Fr-2347) was used 1714 and 1716. The issue of ducats dwindled after the introduction of the friedrichs d'or in 1740. The last quarter ducat is dated 1716.

Specification: 0.875 g, 0.986 fine gold, .027 troy oz AGW, this specimen 0.86 g.
