Künker sale 353, lot 3300

This specimen was lot 3300 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €320 (about US$445 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. 18-Gröscher 1716, CG, Königsberg. Prägung für das Herzogtum Preußen. Mit PRUSS : am Ende der Rückseitenumschrift. Münzmeister Caspar Geelhaar. R Fast sehr schön. Erworben am 2.2.1990 von Udo Gans, Arnsberg. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, eighteen groscher of 1716, Königsberg mint, struck for the duchy of Prussia, with "PRUSS :" at the end of the reverse legend. Rare, about very fine.)"

This type, along with a three groscher, six groscher and a schilling, was struck in 1714, 1716-17 for use in Prussia and neighboring Poland.

Recorded mintage: 67,250 for 1714 and 1716.

Specification: 6.32 g, 0.640 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 5,65 g.
