Künker sale 353, lot 3283

This specimen was lot 3283 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,505 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. 2/3 Taler 1717, HFH, Magdeburg. Zwölffeldiges Wappen. Das Brustbild ohne Lorbeerkranz und mit 10 Nägeln am Harnisch. Münzmeister Heinrich Friedrich Halter. RR Feine Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Möller 9, Kassel 1992, Nr. 1465. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, two-thirds thaler of 1717, Magdeburg mint, twelve-fold arms. Bust without laurel wreath and ten rivets on the harness. Very rare, fine patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Gulden were struck at Magdeburg 1716-18 with 12-fold arms. The previous type (KM 147) had 11-fold arms and the succeeding type had 13-fold arms (KM 170).

Specification: 17.32 g, 0.750 fine silver, 36-37 mm diameter, this specimen 16,75 g.
