Sincona sale 57, lot 2587

This specimen was lot 2587 in Sincona sale 57 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$387 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Brandenburg / Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm I. 1713-1740. 2/3 Taler 1718 HFH, Magdeburg. Sehr schön. Henkelspur. Kleine Schrötlingsfehler. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, 1713-40, two-thirds thaler of 1718, Magdeburg mint. Very fine, Mount mark, Minor flan defects.)"

Many 2/3 thalers or gulden were struck for Frederick William, including KM 104 (1713), KM 105 (1713), KM 106 (1713), KM 107 (1713-15), KM 128 (1714), KM 129 (1714-15), KM 130 (1714), KM 145 (1715), KM 146 (1715), KM 147 (1715-16), KM 153 (1716-17), KM 154 (1716-18), KM 160 (1717-18), KM 160a (1717), KM 170 (1718-19, shown here), KM 178 (1719-24) and KM 179 (1719). All have high catalog values.
