This specimen was lot 684 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $7,637.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. Taler, 1707-CS. Friedrich I. NGC MS-62. Finest certified. First year struck of this series. Nice reflective toning. A very attractive example of this RARE type. From the Rockaway Collection." This type is listed for 1707-12 and is rare, like most of the thalers issued before Frederick the Great (1740-86).
