This specimen was lot 454 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,320 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Jeanne de Naples, 1343-1352. Franc à pied o. J. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Flaue Stellen. (France, county of Provence, Jeanne of Naples, 1343-52, undated gold franc. Very fine-extremely fine, Some weakly struck areas.)"
The county of Provence, home of the Provençal dialect spoken throughout southern France, was ruled by a separate dynasty until 1486 when it was finally incorporated into France.
