This specimen was lot 32177 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $5,520. The catalog description[1] noted, "Portugal: Pedro IV gold 7500 Reis (Peça) 1828 AU58 NGC, Lisbon mint. A very scarce piece from the last year of reign for Pedro IV, the 'Soldier King'. Highly lustrous, minimal wear across the bold devices and overall a hair's breadth from reaching Mint State." This scarce type was struck 1826 and 1828 only. Pedro's brother Miguel also struck a few in 1828 during his campaign to seize the throne from Maria II. The peça was revalued from 6400 réis to 7500 réis in 1826. The last peça was struck in 1835.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .422 troy oz AGW, 31.5 mm diameter.
