This type, an 80 réis or tostão was struck 1828-34 without a date and is the last of the denomination prior to the decimal reform of 1836. Tho marked LXXX, it traded for 100 réis. King Michael was a usurper who was finally driven out in 1834 in favor of his niece, queen Maria II.
