The first specimen was lot 1380 in UBS sale 84 (Basel, January 2010). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PORTUGAL (Münzstätte Lissabon) João VI. 1799-1826. Peça 1822. Vorzüglich-FDC." (Portugal, Lisbon mint, John VI, 1799-1826, gold "joe" of 1822. Extremely fine-Uncirculated).
This type was struck 1818-24 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil.
Recorded mintage: 30,000.
Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW, this specimen: 14.22 grams.
