This specimen was lot 12461 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 6,400 Reis (Peca), 1805. NGC MS-62." This type was struck 1804-16 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil.

Recorded mintage: 35,969.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
