This specimen was lot 25508 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "João VI Prince Regent gold 4 Escudos (6400 Reis) 1808, MS64 NGC, a choice piece with full mint brilliance and excellent eye appeal, very scarce in this superior quality." This type was struck 1804-16 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
