This specimen was lot 21605 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. Peca (6400 Reis), 1746. Lisbon Mint. Joao V. NGC MS-62. A fairly difficult piece to discover in an attractive mint state grade, the present example is a clear cut above the rest, being the finest graded by NGC for the date. Some light hairlines and adjustment marks are observed, but it remains a solid, near choice specimen." This type was struck 1723-50 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil.
