This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, of a type struck 1814-21. This specimen was lot 12437 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,762. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Escudo, 1814-JP. NGC AU-55. Bare bust. RARE type. Nice strike, light toning and attractive. Ex: Caballero De Las Yndias."
