This specimen was lot 21337 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 8 Escudos, 1814-JP. NGC AU-55." This coin was minted 1814-21 and turns up more often than the Mexican coin of the same type.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .761 troy oz AGW.
