This specimen was lot 25605 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $3,965.63. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold cob 8 Escudos 1741 L-V, Lima mint, VF. Probably ex-jewelry with lightly polished surfaces, but nearly full weight at 26.77 grams. Otherwise, this coin shows nicely centered details with full date, mintmark and assayer and a decent strike." This eight escudos was struck during the second reign of Philip V. Milled gold coinage commenced in 1751.
