This specimen was lot 45740 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Cob 1/2 Real, 1703. Lima Mint. Philip V. PCGS VF-25." This type was struck 1701-28 and only the final date, 1728, has an assayer initial. Despite the substantial mintage, these tiny cobs are seldom seen. The fineness was lowered from 0.931 to 0.917 in 1728.
