Peru 1703-L H 2 reales
This specimen was lot 678 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, cob 2 reales, 1703 H. Lightly toned XF+ with well-centered full pillars-and-waves and cross-lions-castles, three assayers. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection of Lima Silver Cob 2 Reales." In 1684, the regime in Madrid finally permitted the viceroy to reopen the Lima mint on a permanent basis and two reales of this type were struck 1701-28. Assayer Hurtado stamped coins 1696-1708. Specimens with legible dates are scarce.
